I agree. I saw that on the isla mujeres info forums. That is very recent because people were posting scoop this morning. So who did you decide on? I think we'll go with Enrique, but I'm still looking for an operator that leaves a little earlier and has us back for closer to 1:00 or so. What are your dates?

Excuse me for not being clearer.
It is much easier, quicker, cheaper, & shorter to go to Isla MUJERES, from Playa del Carmen, than Isla Holbox. Whale Shark tours depart from Cancun Dive Shops , too, but I am not sure which one. I think I remember that " Mayanaquadives ?? provides this. The Whale Shark tours from Isla Mujeres, [ or from Cancun] go close to Isla Contoy. Some operators provide a lunch & break on Contoy.

Thanks so much Capt. OK, you've convinced me. I'll take the family to Isla Mujeres for a night and a couple days. Logistically and geographically it makes more sense. Now it's to decide which whale shark tour operator on Isla. I'm sure I can find that on here somewhere. It seems there is some skepticism about Ramon's whereabouts, who so many seemed to love. Enrique is highly recommended. Any other suggestions? The hotels seems nice and cheap, too. My travel Agent recommend Hotel Las Palmas, and I see some others recommended on the boards. I can hardly wait!!!

I don't know Hotel Las Palmas, but it looks fine. This is a good one, too. http://www.bucaneros.com/english/index.htm
Read the reviews on it. Most hotels are very reasonably priced. Make sure they have A/C if you want it. Both are centrally located to restaurants, shopping, etc. Capt.Tony, who does Whale Shark tours, lives on Matamoras , just a street to the left of the hotel. The island is small & you can easily walk from one side to the other, from the ferry landing. Length of island is easily traveled by rental golf cart. [ no rental cars ]

This site has all the info you will need on Isla Mujeres. On the left side of the page , click on the Q & A , & Chatter links about Mujeres. You will find answers & info on everything including Capt. Tony. [ Good guy ! ]

Hi,

Hotel las Palmas has new owners and has just been renovated. It is fairly basic though. What are you looking for?

This link Isla Mujeres Accommodations cover a lot of hotels on the island. There are some good deals.

I have stayed at las palmas in 1998 and it is basically a room. Maria Leticia...basic but good...depends on what you are looking for, 1,2,3 star or more. I know most hotels/apts at the north end and Sac Bajo..

Sea Hak rooms above the dive shop are nice, roomy and very clean. Cabanas del Prado across the street basic, but only a 1 minute walk to the beach.

Sam
