I Swapped all my LP hoses for Miflex hoses last year. Here's my thoughts after 100+ dives with them in single, doubles, stage, and deco configurations:
- Reg kit is noticeably lighter and easier to pack into my reg bag. As I travel a lot with my gear this is a benefit.
- Singles & doubles routing is easier, without any of the precarious bends required of regular doubles hoses with doubles.
- 22" lays nicely over shoulder for alternate; no tugging when using alternate, less stress on hose from 1st stage.
- 7' hose lays flatter and neater than standard rubber hose, esp around the neck or when not in use and clipped off. Tucks/stows nicely. Easier to deploy and use in OOA situations.
- 29" DS hose is 7" shorter than DUI hose, so it stays right at your side without getting caught up in other stuff
- LPI 22" QD is perfect for length for both doubles or singles. I always had difficulty when using a regular 22" hose; bending too harshly with doubles, bowing on singles due to excess length. No problem with Miflex!
- Stage/deco: Easy to deploy and stow on fly. Recently did my Tec 1 and 2 training class with 'em, where I had many opportunities to try them out.
PS - MIFLEX has specially formulated yellow fibers to ensure similar buoyancy characteristics compared to the black version. Note however that the blue hose apparently weights twice as much as a yellow and black hose combined!
