I live in Florida and don't know anything about cold water diving. The guy that bought the regulator says that the water he dives in is 40 -45 degrees. Can a regulator freeze at those temperatures? I know that there would be an additional temperature drop because of the expansion of the compressed air. At what temperature does freeze-up begin to be a concern?

The Conshelf has a balanced diaphragm first stage. It can be oxygen cleaned, as well as made environmentaly-sealed with an upgrade, and is a fine regulator. I would be surprised to hear that it is inadequate for the conditions described.
 
I think that the Scubapro MK-II is non-balanced. Are there any other non-balanced regulators currently being sold?

That was Scuba Diver 03 that started this thread. I would think that perhaps up to $100 would be a fair price.
