Is this a good deal on Al 100?

I have 2 of these tanks, 1987 Luxfer AL-100's, for sale.

They are made from the bad, evil allow. Curiously, to my knowledge there has never been a case of cracking with the 100's made with this allow, but shops who refuse to fill old tanks make no distinction. They won't fill these either.

FL is prolly the worst state to have these older tanks in, as the majority of shops won't fill them.

...well, I will say this much in defense of the AL 100, I know of both land-based and liveaboards whose ONLY offered bigger tank upgrade/option is an AL 100, since AL is WAY more resistant to rust/corrosion than a steel tank, and they don't want to mess with the maintainance/replacement of a spendy steel tank that lives/operates in a highly abusive/destructive salty/rental environment...so, bouyancy/size warts and all, the AL 100 does have a useful role and I'm thankful they're available.

I bought these tanks well used, so got a deal on them.

Yes, they are a bit taller & fatter than an AL 80, as well as heavier. But they hold 23 CF more gas.

They'd suck for shore dives if you had to walk very far, or over rough terrain. But I've used them for shore dives where the entry wasn't so difficult.

My personal experience is that I need 2lb less weight than I do with a Luxfer AL80. The bouyancy isn't that bad.

Why am I selling mine? Because after enough time searching, I lucked up on deals on used steel tanks that I like more.

Did I like them? Yes & no. I liked the extra BT. I liked the price I paid for them. I didn't like the weight so much, though my steels weigh almost as much. I also didn't like not being able to get fills when away from my home LDS.

If you have a shop that will service & fill them, mine are in hydro & both valves have been serviced within the last year or so. May or may not be in VIP, have to look. I'm asking $80 each, assuming they're in VIP. If not, I'd drop $15 off to cover the VIP at your end.
