I've checked out Cape Ann on the net seems like a good area any other suggestion?

Cape Ann is really where the best shore diving is, although there are a few sites on Cape Cod and south shore. And, if you're nice, you might get someone with a lobstering license to help you catch some tasty dinner.

Charters up here range around $45-65 depending on the charter and the site's proximity to shore.

Well Chuck was right, no ice on Hathaway. Water temp was in the upper 30s, vis was good. A couple of other divers showed up sporting a bunch of halycon gear.

My suit didn't leak too bad, but, my trim and bouyancy didn't seem quite on point (I'm so dead for DIR-f); otherwise it was a fun dive. Although I'm diving against doctor's orders (as a result of car crash) I'm sure I'll be heading down again in the next few days unless the ocean gets good.

You ahve time before the DIR-F. I want to get back to Hathaways or Nickerson State Park this winter.

I almost went to Nickerson today, but, I was too lazy to drive the extra 20-30minutes. What a great spot that is though, espicially if you are dragging any non-divers along with your - just beautiful. There are least three diveable ponds there, all atleast 75' deep.

MASS -Diver,

When you were there - did you notice any platforms or were they sharp drop offs?
Thanks
Eric

Hi Eric, I've been there once, I didn't see any platforms, but, when I was diving in the big pond (Cliff) I ran into a huge underwater hill that came up from 40-50' to about 8' at very sharp pitch, it was almost like swimming straight up.

Hathaway's Pond is located in Hyannis, MA, on Cape Cod. Its just off of Route 132, on Phinney's Lane (take a left off of 132), the entrance is the third left from route 132...

Or for those coming from my neck of the woods - it's off route 3 south, go over the Sagamore bridge, take exit 6 and turn toward hyannis at the bottom of the ramp, then take a left at the first set of lights - go straight, pond is on your left.

It's the site of our June fundies class.
