Is there a main fatality cause in Lobster diving?

So I guess lobstering is like Deer hunting...
You have all those people that come to the range
and fire 1-2 shots on paper and they are all OK for hunting...

I know that kind of people, though I do not hunt myself,
I do reload and target shoot and every fall we have those people in.

And I guess the focus can take away from everything around...

Do you guys think there is Buck Fever while lobstering?
I could very well see that as a heart attack cause underwater...

It's a combination of reasons. Many divers are out of shape or haven't been diving recently. Most of the deaths have been men over 45 or 50 years old with the cause being drowning or heart attack. There have been 4 so far for this mini-season which lasts only 2 days.

On the other hand, the lobsters suffer as well--which is no comparison to a human life, of course. Greedy people take too many or lobsters that are too small. The lobster has to be brought to the dock intact. The tail needs to be attached and removed once the boat has docked. We will be finding dead lobsters without tails this weekend after the mini-season divers have gone home.

Yep! The thrill of the hunt, the adventurous outing with others, the prestige of the winners, the insanity of Buck Fever, aka Cock Fever in pheasant country. I know bird hunters who come hundreds of miles every year and average less than one a day. I used to hunt with them some and give the losers my birds knowing I could get more if I wanted them - but I didn't care for the taste so I quit. Chicken is cheap in stores, and I'm not much of a cook.
