There will be tons of opinions on this, some good and some bad, I can tell you right now, but lets try to keep it to a minimum.

The Scuba Sign....Okay where to start.....A side from being part of a company, I am saying this is as one person.... is the scuba sign used a little too much?

I mean, pretty much every scuba diving logo/company uses the red with white stripe through it. Why not though, it shows non divers and divers that it is scuba diving and it is eye catching, a very good idea. But I think everyone caught on to it and have been using it a little too much.

Scuba Boards sign is awesome, the diving sign suits it, for sure. There is just some companies where it shouldnt be used at all. Making there image seem like a "poser" and a follower, not a leader.

This is my own opinion on this, I am very curious to see everyone elses, this is a topic that hasnt been discussed too much. Thanks guys. ;)

Despite the number of signs using the "diver down" symbol, besides divers you would be surprised how few people actually have any clue what it actually is! I think there should be more exposure to it so people will recognize it as much as they do other brands, logos and whatnot......especially boaters that like to use the flags/buoys as turning points when boating

and those scuba-flag pinky rings and sunglasses. ...ugh.

I agree most of the jet ski riders on our lakes have absolutely no idea what a dive flag is or to stay away from it.

So true, Tamas !!!
It would be nice if EVERY boater/jet skier knew that there is a diver/s below that little flag floating out there on the water.

One of my dive buddies was using my SMB with the "diver down" flag on it and "DIVER BELOW" emblazoned on the thing. Some yahoo piloting a pontoon boat comes along side of it and one of his passengers tried to "recover" it.

Geeeesssshhhhh !!!!

Around here you see the diver down flag everywhere... but most of the non-diving locals have no clue what it means either.

Ya that is a very good point you brought up about the non divers not knowing what it means, especially crazy boaters and jet skiiers. They should learn that though when they take there classes, etc...but i dont think they need a class or do they. Just boaters, and they are good with recognizing dive flags. Thanks "Tamas"

I'd love to plaster them on the back of my vans but I'm concerned about posting notice that "expensive toys are on board". So if could remain a deep dark secret thing only known to divers and not thieves that would be swell by me.

On the other hand general nowledge among boaters for the sake of flag recognition would be great. Frankly I think they play dumb so they can do stupid stuff. Just last week I set ours while we dove an area and we heard a boat stop overhead and speed away for a distance then shutdown. The anchor point was nowhere to be found when we came up the flag had been moved out to deeper water.

and unless they were attending a boating class, they're probably going to ignore any attempts to educate, as it's become more of a business logo than a sign/flag/symbol.

On the cool side, it is a bit like a secret handshake for scuba divers. :D

Around Florida, a lot of folks put a flag plate on the front bumper of their vehicle. Often, it is the national flag of the island they came from. Some folks may think our dive flag is the national flag of some small island nation. However it's handy, as it often helps me find my destination if it is a shop or boat. It also allows the price of a pedestrian item, such as sandals or baby shampoo (mask defogger) to be inflated.

It means little to recreational boaters.
