I did a drift dive in Fla while on vacation (in Florida) a few months back. I had never done a drift dive prior to that particular dive. It was rather easy, esp since my buddy took care of dragging the flag float. Also, the Captain gave us a good briefing.

Since I maybe doing more drift dives while on future trips, does it make sense to take the Padi "Drift Diving" course? Are they going to teach me anything worth wide?

Thanks for your input,

No.

Honestly I wouldnt suggest it you've already done it, now aquire the necessary saftey equiptment for doing it saftely again, perhaps a sausage, or bag and reel, and some other type of whistle, mirror or light to get the attention of the boat, then become familiar with using it, and your as good to go as if you take the PADI course IMO.

It depends on how you learn and what the teacher is willing to put into it. Some people would rather read a chapter on it and figure it out on their own, some people need/prefer a guiding hand in new experiences whenever possible.
However, if you've already done one, have your buddy show you how to wrangle the float and just go for it.
Unless you want another card, in which case, take the class. :)

If you can jump off a boat, climb back on a boat and deploy a DSMB then theres no point what so ever.

Drift diving isnt difficult and certainly not difficult enough to warrant paying for.

Cant see the relevence of that.

There is drift diving and then their is Drift Diving. My personal preference is to become as educated as possible about anything I do in order to reduce the risk as much as I can on endeavors where my life might be at stake. Do a little cost-benefit analysis and look at what is the worst and best things that could happen in the class and decide if how you feel about it then. Worst case, class was a waste of time. Best case, you learned something valuable. Do you have some time and/or are you willing to take the risk that maybe you don't know something important regarding drift diving? For me the decision is simple and while I have no problem putting myself in situations of risk, I will attempt to mediate that risk with knowledge and training.

my 2 psi.

That depends.
One of the places I guided for the cost of the Drift Diver class was 10.00 more than doing the same boat dives with out the class and having a dm along with you was worth the 10.00 bucks to some people.
A couple of people took the class more than once to have "Private dives"
