Your Nekton Liveaboard departs for dive sites along the atolls of Lighthouse Reef and Turneffe Island. The Southern Itinerary also includes sites on Glovers Reef.
Glovers Reef is Belize's southern most atoll known for the abundance of Manta Rays that migrates to the reef.
I know which trip I'd go on...

I wanted to thank you all for your advice and encouragement. I will try and get a few dives under my belt before I live and am going to do a peak performance bouyancy course and that will hopefully help with my depth control amongst others. I will likely do the belize route in the late part of January - will post on my reply

Thanks

Craig

Craig,
I did the Cayman Islands trip this year on the Nekton Rorqual. We had divers at all levels on the boat. My experience is one year of certified diving. The reason I did Nekton was to build my diving skills. Believe me there is no BETTER way to built experience than a Live-aboard! I was lucky to buddy up with two great divers. Every dive a crew member is assisted to dive as a buddy and usually no one used him. Remember crew members want to dive as this gets them off the boat and in the water.

So, I am inviting you to join me and Lynn (diver from my Rorqual Cruise) to join us in Belize the week of February 10, 2007. We both have reservations on the Nekton Pilot and would love to have you tag along. BTW...Lynn is a diving instructor!

Craig send me an IM or I can give you my email.

Craig, I heartily second what Tim has said. I booked my son and I (21 & 51, fyi) on Nekton's NW Bahamas cruise when we had only our certification dives in our logbooks. My thinking was this - I wanted to be a safe diver, not the typical "get a couple of dives in during the annual family vacation" kind of diver and safety only comes with practice, and you only get practice with experience. I was looking for a way to accelerate the learning curve.

I scheduled some instructional sessions with one of their DM's when making the original booking, and we worked on bouyancy, navigation and night dives. On top of that, the comraderie of the other guests who took a couple of newbies under their collective wings made this one of our best vacations ever!

With all of the instruction and coaching, we were totally different divers by the end of the week, adding 20 more dives to the books.

Can't wait to do it again!
