Hi,

I recently acquired some gear. I was diving at the local shore and this diver told me that my gear was not appropriate for the cold water. I was a bit concerned about it.

Exposure Suit - Bare Trilam Tech Dry

Regulator - Apex XTX 200

Octopus - Beauchat Yellow

BC System - Haclyon Eclipse Single Wing with Non cinch Harness (Weights are attached to the harness) Single Tank Adaptor With Weight

Computer - Suunto Zoop

Suunto 3 In line Console

Please let me know if I should be replacing some or all of it. I bought what I thought was good but now Im not to sure after this young diver approached me.

sounds like that kid is an idiot, but the octo is the only one I'd think about replacing if you really want to, and I don't really like consoles if you're diving with a computer, but to each his own, regs are certainly as good as any for cold water.

Your gear is fine; your lack of confidence in your own reasoning and selections is troubling, especially given your "solo diver" tag.

He didn't Elaborate. He basically said that due to the temperature of the water. The gear was a poor choice. I didn't think it was but he was very concerned about it. He inferred that I should not dive with it, and, was disrespecting it in a way.

I'm hoping I can get a truthful answer good or bad from other divers.

I don't dive solo. I was certified by SDI. I always dive with a buddy

Thanks for the input. I know my gear is good. The concern that I have is from another diver that I thought should give me a truthful answer concidering we dive at the same place. I just wanted to know from you guys what your thoughts were.

I do appreciate the concern about my diving and I am always wanting to learn new things

Unless you were wearing 40lbs of lead to sink the suit and the wing was a 30lber...not seeing an issue.

would love to hear the comments the "youngster" might have if you had a DH....

Thanks for the feedback.

I don't know why he was being critical. It may just be his attitude.

I am not familiar with DH
