This thread is being re-opened at the request of other members who feel that there are still opinions and positions to be put forth.

All of you have kept this discussion very civil and intelligent.

Let's continue to do so. It is through a dialogue like this that change and growth are effected.

I was going to post earlier....

I don't think anyone was whining. Although some people perceive it that way, but that can't always be helped.

I think, that the message has been received, that at least some members are hoping for more open communications regarding how policy is enforced, and how the TOS is interpreted. As with any document that is essentially a legal contract; the interpretation isn't always clear to everyone. It seems only fair, that the people who are members, scubaboardians, mobsters, what have you; should at least have explanations as to how some things are interpreted, so that we may be better scubaboardians in the end.

as for closing the thread. I did not ask for it to be re-opened. I don't want to seem like a whiner :D

Thank you for re-opening it. To close it seemed like a totalitarian approach by SB moderators.

I do think that it's ironic that the original discussion of this thread on the absence of the user who was banned has caused a bigger stir then him being here. That should say something.

I think this thread will die away on it's own. what points of view that needed to be said, have already been said.

Though it's re-opened, I still think it's time for SB to 'move on' from this thread.

I'm kinda tired of it. I think most of us, regardless of our view, are too.

Yes, as the OP - I have no objection to closing it at this point. I think most people expressed positive thoughts in a polite way, with the exception of a few who shall remain nameless.

So I say :dancinglock: is ok with me.

But like Mike_s says, if you want to keep it open, that's fine too. :D

To build on this, from experience in years past when someone disagreed with a decision made it wasn't brought out for discussion such as this, it was brought up with feverish insults and assults at the board, the boards name, Pete, moderators, and anyone else who was within range that may have been related by a distant 3rd cousin to the original event that transpired. This discussion has been refreshing and fun to say the least!

It is through a dialogue like this that change and growth are inevitable.

I'd be really surprised if the scubaboard TOS didn't legally amount to a statement that there's a bunch of ways you can expect to be treated on scubaboard, but that all rights are reserved by scubaboard and you may be treated differently. I'd be a little bit shocked if the TOS actually conferred legal rights on members beyond what the legal system gives them by default...
