I've scoured the internet for quite sometime in search for a 2nd stage Legend to replace my ill breathing ABS octo. I recently switched to a Oxycheq BP/Wing setup and while scrolling through their site found this:
ORG-04-02_250.jpg

So can anyone confirm if Oxycheq's Balanced 2nd stage is just a rebadged Legend 2nd?

...if I were a betting man, I'd have to agree with ya. I'd e-mail/PM the Oxycheq rep here on SB, I'm sure they'd confirm it for you.......the question is, if you need repairs/service, would an Aqualung dealer do it, or would it have to be done by an Oxycheq dealer, which are few and far between, relative to the number of Aqualung dealers around.

Between annual services, on occasion I have used repair kits "thank god for ebay" to replace a worn o-ring in my Legend 2nd. The equipment maintenance/repair specialty introduced me to the internals of my reg and already being somewhat mechanically inclined helped as well. I would never go into my first stage, as I am completely unaware of the inner workings of them, but for simple repairs, cleaning and upkeep on a 2nd stage, I think I could get by. If all else fails I am pretty decent friends with my local repair tech duo, so I don't think it be an issue.

My main concern would be if the repair kits for the Legend 2nd and the Oxycheq 2nd are interchangeable as access to parts would be crucial.

I think the issue is more that if the kits are the same, it will open up availability to legend owners who can simply buy the oxycheq kit.

If an o-ring that's included in the rebuild kit needs replacing between annual services, something's wrong. Hose o-rings are a different story, I assume that's what you're talking about. O-rings in a 2nd stage reg should last for years. About the only part that wears appreciably is the seat, and that wears less on balanced 2nds.

From what they told me, and I used to be an Oxycheq dealer, is that their regs are an Apeks knock off made in China. Apeks and Aqualung are one in the same now so there might be some similarities, but I would seriously question wether or not the parts are interchangable.

On the first occasion it was the o-ring which sits inside the hose swivel which was causing a very slight leak, so you would be correct. But the second field repair was different story, as it was one of the o-rings in the valve assembly. My normal repair procedure would be to disassemble the second and clean/inspect all the o rings, replace the ones which looks worn, old or damaged and then re assemble. The process of just cleaning and greasing the o-rings could have done the trick without the replacement, all I know is that I was able to continue to dive my gear that day and not use the boats kit:D

I noticed right away that the Oxycheq 1rst stages are complete copies of Apeks "externally atleast". Maybe I should inquire if Oxycheq kits are available to consumers, as this would be just as good as if the Legend kits were interchangeable.

I'd call them or shoot them an e-mail. You won't get dealer pricing, but they might just sell you what you want.

Hmmm, I would rather put my money on Ocean Divers Supply (Taiwan).
Look at their RG-9P second stage. You can also compare fist stages sold by Oxycheq and those produced by ODS. It seems more and more companies sell their products under different brand names: ScubaMax, Salvo (rip), Oxycheq, Diverite (?), ...
