ok, hopefully the title is self-explanitory. i'm asking because it was on my list of things to do (along with deco procedures, which i have a feeling you have to do dives for...:D ) and if it's a no-dive-required class like nitrox is, i could still take it this fall.

different agency points of view, standards, & answers welcome.

No, sorry, Babyduck. It requires 4 dives if taken alone. The combo class requires at least 6. You could study the text and get ahead of the game. Pregnancy can put a kink your plans. :)

drat. thanks, dearie.

one more thing to throw in the baby's face when it does the 'i didn't ask to be born' thing...'oh yeah? well, you put my diving behind *a whole year*!!'

As an Instructor....

If students are familiar with Nitrox before hand and just want a card...I'll do it without dives....but if new to them..I make them do 2 repetive with Nitrox comparing table values with computer times. The big thing is to get them to check their gas mixes. All in all I think a 2 tank Nitrox dive should be required by all agencities

yes, for basic nitrox. i'm thinking about advanced nitrox. is the same true for this class? can it be done without actual dives?

There is only so much what you can go with Nitrox. Advanced classes are useless. A nitox class should teach all the limitaitions in one class...There ain't that much!

It's a technical class, cudachaser, for accelerated deco to 100% O2.. TDI requires dives.

100%? Is that TDI? I thought the ones I'd seen only went to 50%.

Interesting.......

In any event this class has a strange name as to all intents and purposes it's the entry deco class AFAIK.

IANTD is 50% and their Advanced Nitrox is taken with Deep Diver (which is really Deco Procedures). Yes, it's really an entry deco class focusing on deco gasses diving to 130 feet. Deco Procedures certifies you to dive to 150 feet.

Yeah...but for rec dives the limit is 40% and 130ft. Tech dives are another issue...then it's a whole new ball game
