I have been there both as a competitor and diver. As a diver, we were staying at Blue Angel and were picked up as usual, 8 ish. This was back when the swim was all at Chankanaab so we actually floated by for a quick look and the closure of the Caleta wasn't a factor. Now I guess crews would have to leave a bit early. Everything else we do is on foot, walking to town etc so I was not affected at all as a tourist. What you definitely do not want to be doing is coming from or going to the airport that day
As a competitor, I wasn't affected either,
and thanks to Coz for letting us race on your streets. One of my favorite races.
As for the swim, I highly doubt they are moving it back to Chankanaab. The last time they had it there the currents were very unfriendly. I am not racing this year but may next year so monitoring race news and haven't heard anything about that. I met Jorge at the old palancar pier on a SI a few days later. Not sure he won but he did well.
Days before there will just be more traffic on the streets, no closures (except Melgar for the evening underpants run on Friday...
) Day after, you'll hardly notice anything was going on.
