Introductory Post Roatan vs Cozumel

Good Day All,

I just completed my PADI AOW Diver this weekend and am planning a November Dive trip. Two options so far are Cozumel and Roatan. Can somebody who has dived both offer an opinion?

Cozumel is all drift diving, Roatan has lots of shore diving without current. It will depend on your preferences, but there are lots of members here that have been to both. I would suggest maybe Roatan because it is easier to descend/ascend and do your safety stop without current if you have not mastered your bouyancy yet. There is a Cozumel forum if you want to take a look, and maybe you will find other members that will be there at the same time as you. Maria

They both offer some great diving, but in my experience, Cozumel makes for a much better vacation spot between dives.

Love them both. Look at our Cozumel and Central American forums, buy trip insurance, and check NOAA Hurricane site before you leave.

Welcome to the board. Cozumel was great (may) but I haven't been to roatan. There are plenty of trip reports in the travel forums that can provide a wealth of info.

I've only been to Cozumel, I loved it, but I don't know much about Roatan. Safe diving!
