Hello everyone, My girlfriend SwissMermaid and I are new to the board. We both live in Southern California. We have been out of diving for a while and are going to get back into it this summer. We will be browsing this board often and look forward to many discussions. I have attached a photo of us.

Hi everyone......this is SwissMermaid......Jims2000r1 and I are new to the board.......we are looking forward to hearing about everyone's fabulous dive experiences......Jim and I will be diving in Catalina this coming spring.......I have never been there so I am really looking forward to this experience.......I come from Zurich Switzerland and I am a Dive Master and I received my scuba certificate in Isreal......looking forward to many scuba adventures with Jim in beautiful California......

And welcome to Scuba Board. :hi: A fun place to learn. :thumb:

I don't know that waiting until spring will get you anything? I'd bet the water is as warm now as it will be until summer. I'll ask my dear friend, the infamous :doctor: DrBill - who lives there, to chime in here, if he would.

Besides, I couldn't wait that long. Just got back from Cozumel Friday, and going again next month.

I'm not sure, but I think all you'd need for Catalina diving today would be a good thick wet suit. Get your fin legs back, then fly down to Baja!! :sombrero:

good luck, don

Welcome to the two of you. Another SB member suggested I check this thread since I live on Catalina.

I'm on my way to dive the Sea of Cortez for a few weeks, then will be back on Catalina Dec 20-Jan 20. Will leave again for 6-8 weeks in Belize and Honduras before returning to Catalina about mid-March. (By the way- these are WORK assignments, not pleasure trips... yeah, right!).

If you plan to dive there after mid March, I should be at Casino Point and would also be happy to offer suggestions re: dive boats and accommodations.

Talk to local dive shops there about diving there now. No, it's not as warm as in the summer, but it's not all that much colder, and the viz is better. People dive there year 'round.

Or try Joe: http://www.optiquatics.com I spoke with him at a DUI Dog Days Rally in New Mexico today, and she supplie wet suits and intro training.
