I'm John Ranahan, a PADI instructor living in Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia. I've been here going on three years. I work part time at the College of Micronesia. My wife and I also own a 31' sailboat that I sailed here from Trinidad this year. The trip took me six months.

Welcome! I am heading across to Micronesia in Jan (just for a visit) and looking forward to it tremendously.

Roxanne,
Out on a fun dive yesterday. Had 100' visibility and saw about 50 reef sharks, along with lots of other fish and coral. This is a great place to dive. Come and find out!!

ive recently joined this forum myself...i am planning to visit (starting February 2011) Truk, Palau, Kosrae, yap, Pohnpei and maybe Bikini Atoll??? (been told its currently closed to visitors/divers???)

I have no time schedule - so i am hoping to spend two weeks on each island...im not sure yet whether to start manila/guam route (going east) or hawaii -kosrae route????(going west)

if you have any useful hints for me - these would be gratefully received

hope to meet with you some day soon??

Congrats to making the sail. We had plans but the economy got the best of us. Now looking for a new lifestyle or just a get away for myself. What might be the least expensive way to dive with you? Do you ever rent out your boat for a single young diving grandma (nonsmoker) for a bit? I have airline points but not much money. Ideas? I could trade you time in North Idaho on horseback!
