I just bought an intova ISS 2000 strobe. No cable. I usually take pics on AV.
which flash settings do I need to use on the camera to make the strobe fire ?
.....thanks for any advice

Make yourself a fiber optic sync cable (it's pretty easy) and set your camera's flash to 2/3's power. With the S90 in manual, the strobe preflash should be "0."

I thought you could use the strobe without a cable and it picked the pre flash automatically.
The cable ideas sounds good, any more info on how to make one ?
thanks for your help

You don't have to have a sync cord, but my guess is that the strobe won't fire reliably if you just depend on the sensors. Plus, you might pick up some hot spots in your pics from both the camera flash and strobe hitting your subject.

And the strobe doesn't automatically set the pre-flash count. I shoot in manual and set the strobe's pre-flash to "0."

My solution, and a few others', to the sync cord issues with this strobe are posted here: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/st...-re-fiber-optic-cable-housing-attachment.html

Thanks for your help, sounds like a big learning curve ahead of me with the strobe. One question, how does the fibre optic cable connect to the camera...?

Bubble gum. And not the sugar free kind. It's not sticky enough.

Just kiddin'.:D

Did ya read the thread I linked to? My rig is posted there (with pics, too).

Or you could get a mounting block at Optical Ocean Sales: Dual Optical Fiber Velcro Attachment Kit - Optical Ocean Sales Underwater Photo - 800-359-1295!
