Personally dived with TwoFish and WorldDiving and can recommend both (more customers at WD but also a bigger boat).
I am sure Big Fish, Blue Corner and Lembongan Dive center are recommandable too.

Thanks for the suggestions. We might sign up with a dive center that has a bit more personalized service and smaller boats (= less people, but I could be wrong here). Will check out TwoFish and WD as well as accommodations. Since we bring almost all of our own equipment, all we need are tanks with nitrox and wts. Nice sunsets and beer are also welcome.

Well, 2F is this only op in Lembongan providing Nitrox, it limits your options :)

Other ops might arrange Nitrox fills assuming advance bookings to get the tanks from Bali ops.

2F is not right on the beach but they do offer Bintang or you can get nice sunsets & Bintangs from various bars & restaurants only a few steps away ...

I also have dived the sites off the east Bali mainland itself but the horrendous traffic puts me off, I much prefer the islands such as Lembongan (great diving there) and the Gilis.
By East Bali you surely mean South Bali! South Bali, as in Kuta, Seminyak, Sanur or Nusa Dua, has terrible traffic. The locals describe it as "machet total".

East Bali, as in Karangasem, Padang Bai, Candidasa, etc, does not have bad traffic. Oh yes, I did have bad traffic once: piglets caused me to stop my bike in the middle of the road and cowlings were not far either...

Yes Cedric, I did indeed mean Kuta, Sanur etc. Sorry for my bad geography.

By the way, I'm glad to see that you were not hurt on your bicycle ride by any cowlings (which are a part of an aircraft engine I think). Anyway, please be careful on the roads over there.

Hello!

May I take advantage of this thread to ask if someone has ever dive at the Magnet divesite, in Blongas (Lombok) ?
According to the DiveZone Lombok website, it is now a good period to see hammerheads: are the chances good?

I am an inexperienced diver, as you can see in my profile; this dive is defined as a challenging dive: is it reasonable for me to go there?

Thank you!

EDIT:
Sorry, I posted too quickly: here are the conditions to do this dive, so I have my answers (I let this post in case someone is ever looking for the same information).
