I'm lurking into getting Nitrox and Nitrox Advanced certifications. I know I do not want PADI, more looking into TDI or IANTD or equivalent (not because PADI is bad, just because I think TDI/IANTD and other similar ones are closer to my CMAS certification!).

Boston area to Metrowest preferred.

If TDI I would even potentially look at Deco Procedures which can be combined with the advanced if I'm right.
IANTD seems more tough to find what I need to do...

Would you have any suggestion, which one would you recommend ? How to find a good instructor ? What is your experience on these if any ?

Timing i'm looking at: getting certified by May on at least the Nitrox basic and if I can be ready with the advanced, even better. My goal is to be able to dive on Nitrox and also be able to use it as a deco gas on deeper dives :D

if you state that goal as immediately expected (deco dives) I hardly see any instructor taking you in. on the other hand if you are looking to get on the learning curve instead than ecdivers.com should be able to get you started. i took my nitrox and rescue in there, they are pretty nice.

My goal is clear and it is my "mid" term vision... I'm able to do deco dives with my certification today, on air. So I just want to add more efficient decos to my current abilities :D
I also understand tat I won't go straight to Nitrox advanced with deco ;) There is definitely a learning curve and I will not bypass it :D
Now I've been also looking around for the fees asked... and this is quite high. Nitrox is typically 195$ and Nitrox Advanced is 295$ (not sure about the Deco one)... My club back in Belgium is actually both courses together would cost me less than 200EUR... so I might hold this back until a few more months... But it does not hurt to get the info in case I really want to have it !

I still will check ecdivers :)

CMAS, how many stars?

Basic EAN course is pretty straightforward, you don't really need to do any dives although they usual include 1 or 2 depending on the shop/agency but just an excuse for another dive (not a bad thing!). Theory for Advanced is basically the same plus some deco planning, usually it's done in conjunction with Deco Procedures as you say, and it's cheaper that way. I did mine with TDI, liked it but don't really have anything to compare it to either (ie other agencies). IMHO TDI course material is more up to date than IANTD

CMAS, how many stars?

3 :)

I got just certified before moving to Boston area (that was my goal anyway...) and now I enjoy it and also wait to be able to give it back to my club once I get back ;)

One of my buddy is a tek diver and is also TDI nitrox certified, he told me he is happy with it. If they are more up to date with the standards, sounds like a good move. And I think my LDS is even providing TDI right now, I simply did not stop there for a while (last dive was aborted due to frozen reg, still plenty of air to de another dive in my 120cf) :D I will ask them anyway.

The prices you stated are pretty steep! I would wait or see if they will negotiate the price!
See you topside! John
