I'm a Fish!
I folks. This is Ed from Melbourne, Fl. and I have a question regarding instructor cross-overs to a different certification agency. I am currently a PDIC Instructor, and although I have respect for the quality of the PDIC agency, I am considering crossing over to PADI simply for the wider name recognision. Can anyone give me information about what is involved in crossing over to a different agency. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello Ed, welcome to the family here at Scubasource.

In order to cross-over to PADI all you have to do is be in good standing with the agency you are with now, and pass a medical evaluation.

You must then participate in either a IDC (Instructor Developement Course) or an IOC (Instructor Orientation Course) Both of these courses can only be taken from a PADI Course Director. After getting signed off by the CD, you still need to take the IE (Instructor Examination). It's not very difficult, you'll just have to get familiar with the "PADI way" of doing things.

Just between me and you, you're making a good choice!
