Ugh! I can not stand people on the board that all of a sudden become experts on absolutly every aspect of diving within months of getting ow cert. And its obvious that a majority of this knowledge that they feel that they should share with everybody comes directly from reading posts on the internet. Lots of cyber divers running around here these days. And its driving me crzy. Geez people, shut up and go out there and dive, get 100 or so dives in different conditions and circumstances and then come on here and share your experiences. I never claim to know it all and any advise I have ever made on this board was soley based on my own personal experiences.

Bottom line: Shut up and dive!

Wow! Rant on! ............I'll come back in several months when I get more dives in :-)

I am at about 100 dives...but have been posting and learning and reading since the start. Everything i read on the board i know is mostly opinions...that is what I thought the purpose of an open forum was....to express thoughts from different levels of experience. I have never claimed to become an expert...with anything in life its all about listening and learning constantly.

I think its rather interesting to watch how the post change as divers gain experience...or seeing someone that has a lot of experience get something from someone that is new to the sport.

Ill be back in a couple of months.

Dont you get armchair coaches/experts in every sport/activity?? Those who are new, those who are not so new.

I often wonder whether sometimes i resemble the "instant expert" title or not, but i love this sport, enjoy researching all over the web and in books, with more experienced divers and getting out to dive. Granted i dont dive as much as i would like, work gets in the way (as do funds available - is there a link there???) - however often times i phrase my questions or statements with something like "whilst not an expert, i have heard" or "from what i have seen" (real life not cyber-diving) and some things i can speak with personal experience on - particularly things about that dreaded ear barotrauma - grrrr and newbie-ness ;)

Let us all give up the forum and get out to dive - that will leave Netdoc with a wonderful site with no current subscribers.

Some people have to do that to show off. Some people are just so darn excited about the new sport they want to share what they think they know with everyone. I tolerate the 2nd group much more than the 1st - and it's usually pretty easy to tell the difference.

Wendy makes a good point...

Don't offer advice you haven't actually used on a dive!

Don't tell us how it's supposed to be done, but how YOU did it on a dive.

Ask any and all questions! No, you don't need a single dive to do this!

We love to hear about your excitement, but if you tell us that you have dove the Doria and only three weeks earlier you were asking what is the best reg... well, we can connect the dots.

Considering a lot of our training is how to handle emergencies that may or may not ever come up; it's hard to limit to what you -have- done.

But I know what you mean. Trouble is; does everyone?
