Just thought I would post this tidbit of information if you are thinking of getting an Inon UWL-100 Wide Angle Lens for the Olympus PT-010 housing.

The Type 2 lens mounts directly to the housing w/o an adapter. HOWEVER, this lens is not suitable for all the different model Olympus cameras that fit in the PT-010 due to excessive vignetting.

Those models are the C3000Z, C3030Z, C4000Z and C4100Z. These models require the Type 1 lens and the adaptor for mounting.

I discovered this by looking over the PDF chart on Yuzo's website.

The M67 adapter mentioned...is that the one needed to use S&S MMII boyonet lenses? We've had several folks askiong about them lately.

I'm not sure Dee. I am not familiar with the S&S lens. I stumbled upon this Type 1 - Type 2 thing while looking over the Inon wide angle on Yuzo's website. Since I have the C4000Z I would have to get a Type 1 lens + adaptor even though the Type 2 threads onto my PT-010.
I'm not camera educated enough to know why there is vingetting on certain C series Oly cameras using the Type 2 lens.

I'm not savvy enough either! I have a hard enough time remembering stuff pertaining to my own stuff!!!

Ok, here goes a few definitions. Maybe we can learn something here as I just got the INON WAL.

This one is rather technical

One dealing with panorama and digital cameras

Here's one from amazon.com's pros

Here's a good one relating lens hoods to WALs.

This should be enough toget us started.

I sure wish I had this information when I ordered from Yuzo last summer. I'm pretty sure he didn't have the .pdf comparison chart back then so I got the Type 2. The site back then said order Type 1 if you had one of the smaller sized housings, so I ordered Type 2. Now I know why I have so much vignetting. If I zoom in to get rid of it, I still get corners that are out of focus. Live and learn on internet sales! Anyone wanna buy a Type 2 lens??????? :(

Ted:
Many thanks for all the info. It certainly helps with this vignetting issue.

Sorry you got the wrong lens and I would have likely done that also as I have a C4000Z. I was just doing some snooping around at prices and saw that chart. I couldn't figure out why some of the C series Oly's had an "X" for the Type 2 lens when they all are in the same housing. Yuzo's lens page is confusing as it shows the housings for the Type 2 lens and camera models listed but did not list the 4000. That's what got me curious. It also talks about other Oly housings that require an adaptor. I then saw the link to the chart. I think that page should just send everyone to the chart and not list the other info as it is misleading. Perhaps you can e mail him about it as you have one of his lenses.
There must be a different zoom factor with the 4000 versus the 4040.
I'm sure you will be able to sell your Type 2 with all the 5050's out there.

Mar.....I just noticed your signature. I love it!

Ted, in that second link about the panoramas....Have you tried the program the guy wrote to correct it? He only mentions having to have Virtual Basic on your computer to run it.
