Anyone know if the following can be used on the c7070 housings?
Mainly the Olympus made PT housing & the Ikelite housing?
Are any adaptors required if they can?

- INON UWL-100 Wide angle lens plus Dome port
- INON UCL 165 M67 Macro lenses (stackable)

As well, I'm still reading...but wondering if it's true that it's NOT possible to get a flash to fire (either internally, externally, ie. at all!!) when the 7070 is in SuperMacro mode? Coz in my opinion, if that's the case, what was the Olympus techs thinking????

From what I have heard both fit on the 7070. It is just that the WAL is too heavy for the port of the 7070. I think that I was also told that they will be coming up with some other kind of WAL for that.

Hi Leesa,

Too heavy meaning that it might break something or just that it makes the camera very 'lense-heavy' underwater?

Coz that INON lense w/ a dome make's just about anything 'lense-heavy'!!!

I like the foam idea someone had on here....but otherwise, there's not much that can be done....infact, my carry on weight is much coz of the darn lense...

I use the Ikelite housing and have both the WAL and 2 UCL165s. No problems using them on the housing, though you would have to zoom in a little on the WAL to prevent vignetting. As for the slave mode on supermacro mode, it will not fire. In anycase, I think it will be difficult to focus in supermacro mode underwater anyway. Better to stack the 165s and take the zoom back a notch from full zoom. No problems getting nicely magnified shots after that. Check out the threads... there is one that deals with the stacking Inon 165s.

Wolverine,

I don't see any reason why not, but do you know if it still works once the Dome is added to the UWL100 wide angle lense?

According to Yuzo in Japan the Inon UWL-100 CANNOT be used on the Olympus housing for the 7070 as it is too heavy for the housing port and will likely break it. There is a new wide angle lens for that housing which is the UWL-100 28D and it is a bayonet mount lens. You may want to contact Yuzo. The lens is shown on his website
The Ikelite housing will likely be able to handle the UCL-100 but you can always check with Ike.

Like Jim said, the new WAL from Inon will work better with the 7070 than the UWL100 since it uses the max wide angle (28mm) on the 7070. I think the UWL100 will still work with the dome on the Ike (the mount looks really sturdy), but think you will still need to zoom in a bit. The UWL100 was made for 35-105mm cameras so you would need to zoom in to 35mm to use it without vignetting. Ditto on the dome for the UWL100. I would rather go for the new WAL if you haven't bought the old WAL but I am pretty sure the Ike housing for 7070 does not support bayonet mount.. unless someone can tell me otherwise .. :0_o:

Needing to zoom negates much of the benefit offered by the UWL-100 lens on its own, and the dome + uwl-100 just begins to offer 100 deg. of coverage. So, even thought Ikelite's mount is sturdy enough to accept the lens, it may not be worth the money.

Inon's solution for the PT-020 and PT-027 housings IS TO REPLACE THE STOCK FRONT PORT, eliminating the dinky red latches w/ a more robust aluminum solution, and allowing them to mount the bayonet lens closer to the camera's lens.

The new lens, Inon's UWL-100 28 AD is very nice optically. I've used it on both Canon's S70 and the PT-020, and been pleased. The dome port expands the coverage angle to nearly 160deg, which is also a tremendous benefit w/ either of these cameras.

Ikelite has a UWL-100 28 AD, and I know making an adapter is on their plate, but it is a very big plate.

Ah, if I only knew..I used the UWL100 with my previous camera, so when I upgraded to the 7070, it didn't make sense to look for another UWL. Agree that the full capabilities of the UWL100 cannot be maximised when the camera has to zoom in to use, but hey, I still get wider angles than the 28mm on the 7070 (at least I think so.. :07: ). I wonder what the angle when the 7070 zooms in to 35mm....

Anyone have a ballpark fugure for this??
