Hi,
Im planning a weekend trip in Rockport in late August. Looking to do some diving while there. Any suggestions on where a good place to for newbies to dive? preferably a shore entry. Also local dive shop info would be great.

Lots of guys on the site dive Rockport....Don't rule out other sites on the north shore...You'll get alot of info here

Hook up with Cape Ann Divers dive shop and they have shore diving guide with directions to sites, parking hints.. and if they know of anyone looking to get out, can let them know. They also run dive charters. Bear in mind weekends have many challenges (parking)

Rockport/Gloucester area has some great New England diving however some sites might be better depending on the tides or wind. If you check in with Cape Ann Divers they usually will have reports of visibility/conditions from other divers. Like reefseal said, they also have a very useful map available with a listing of different dive sites and directions.

A couple nice and easy shore dives are Back Beach and Old Garden Beach. Depending on the conditions/tides, Folly Cove or Cathedral Rocks are beautiful dives but you definitely don't want to dive them in bad conditions.
