There is a test called INR which measures the theraputic value of the thinner. If you were on heprin that may be different than warfin.

While Heparin and Warfarin (Coumadin) are both blood thinners, Warfarin's effectiveness is measured by the PT/INR levels (too high = the blood is too thin). This is used to determine the appropriate dosage of Warfarin. This medication is also given orally.

Heparin on the other hand is given IV or SQ and is measured using a PTT test.
