Recently, just before diving in, I was testing my regulators and inflator button on BC when inflation starting on its own. Within seconds the valves opened and I had a buddy turn off the air from my tank. I disconnected and reconnected all connections and started over again. No problem after that. Anyone else had this problem? Wouldn't want this to happen at 40' or down. Person at dive shop said she hear people say this had happened to them before. She said maybe it was a piece of trash in the line between 1st stage on BC. Just concerned???

Definitely time for service. Other than a piece of debris could be that a part needs to be replaced.

Uncle Pug:
Time to service the inflator, eh?

Second that. A little preventive maintenance.

If ever it does leak during a dive disconnect it.

Believe it or not, this BC is fairly new (less than 8 months old) and I really take care of my equipment. This has only happen once but once is enough.

I could also be manufacturing debris. Since it is less than 8 months old take it back to your dive shop and ask them to replace it as a warranty issue. That is why you spend more money locally for the same thing you could purchase online for less... with the local dive shop you should have the ability to take defective merchandise back in for immediate replacement.
