I have tired several difference hold downs including o-ring and bungee cords and they both work OK but I like the silicone bracelets. The neat part is you can get them as POW, Breast Cancer, support or troop and bunch of other good causes.

I've found that by not trapping the inflator hose itself and just running the lp hose thru it still holds the hose down and yet slides easily on the lp hose. That way there are no ridges to get hung up on no matter what you use. Myself I use a bungee.
 
You would jump pull upward and the hoses will slide along it.

Is your harness that loose that the rubber band could travel between it and the body? Mine's not, but...

Actually double checking the pic in the first post he has the rubber tied to a webbing slide it seems.
