I think if it was me I'd "leak" more than a few drops of blood. I'm have a major clear up to deal with.

Happy Diving

I remember seeing a show on humboldts. The divers were around fishermen who were catching the humboldts and it looked ... iffy :)

Rick Inman:
Yeah Steve, the video is very cool, although I'm not sure who is attacking whom.

Exactly what I was thinking as well. But then if they had been bigger, I don't know if I would stick around to find out...

I saw that documentary on the Discovery Channel on Humboldt squids.

It seems that most footage is filmed at night whilst fishermen are fishing, the squids are attracted to the fish caught on the bait and move up to feed it, other humboldt squids will sometimes attack squid that are feeding on the fish.

Anyway my point is that perhaps some of this footage is misleading as the squid are in an excited stage, I vaguely remember another party filming those same squid under other conditions and they were nowhere near as aggressive.

Most animals have reasons for being aggressive... self-preservation, hunting of prey et cetera.
Very few if any are mindless, vicious killers.

Just my 2 cents.
