Yes , I am getting (1) 2400 from a friend. I will be picking it up on Friday.
Well its almost free, I am giving him a bottle of Belvedere Vodka as a thank you because he does not want anything for it.

Am I wrong in my thinking that having the (3 ) 2400's filled up to 2640 all of the time and just using the (2) 3600's and the (1) 4500 to top tanks off is bad.
I was told that the compressor works harder at high pressure. So since most of my diving is with low pressure tanks, I thought the low pressure banks would work out well for me.

Please advise ,
Jim

What oxyhacker is saying is that for just a few dollars more you could have all higher pressure tanks. You don't have to fill them to capacity. You can still setup a pyramid shaped set of banks, LP-MP-HP. But spending just a ~$100 more now will give you alot more flexibility in the future to potentially reconfigure.

I would definately snag the 2400psi cylinder for the price. But maybe skip the 3600s and just get all 4500s. Use some as a medium pressure bank and some as a 4200-4500 psi bank.

Thanks Rjack,
I picked up the cylinder from my friend today , its a 3a2015 cylinder not a 2400, but free is free.
The (2) 2400's I am picking up on Monday.
The (2) 3600's and the (1) 4500 will ship to me on Tuesday.
I would have liked tohave gotten (2) 4500's but all they had was (1) at this time.
I think I will be just fine with this bank based on the amount of diving I will be getting in. This past summer I only used 4500 cu ft of gas. I will have my daughter diving with me next year, so at most I will use about 10,000 cu ft of gas.
The bank's will have about 2000 cu ft. of gas to work off of so I will not need to run the compressor too often.
You may ask , why am I building this set up with such little usage ?
I want to have gas there when I want it, and I don't like spending 30 minutes driving to the shop just for gas. Also I enjoy doing projects and playing around in the shop.
Thanks, Jim B

Well I have 3 banks:
LP = 1x 2300 with 2x 2265+ = about 1000cf at 2300psi
MP = 2x 3600+ = 900cf at 3800psi
HP = 2x 4500 = 850cf at 4300psi (not worth the wear and tear to fill them higher)

I am banking exclusively 32% by CB in all these. Mindful that I have to put everything back at some point, sigh... I let the LP get down to 2000psi before refilling. The 3800 bank I use down to 3000ish and I only dip into the 4300psi bank when I really need it to fill HP tanks.

Mostly my bank allows me to fill friends tanks while they wait. Or to refill a bunch of cylinders from a Saturday trip to reuse on Sunday. I am using about 20,000cf of gas a year between myself, my wife, and the occasional friend or out-of-town guest.
