I promised several people to let them know how this trip was - so here goes.
Arrived Friday afternoon on American with absolutely no problems. Through immigration/customs in about 40 min, rental car (Hertz) in 20 min and hit Centrum and off to LKH with no effort. Smooth chck-in and in our room and unpacked in time to make Sol Food by 6.
Problems started the next morning when we found the ladder a,nd dive platform at OEW had been damaged/removed. Exit noes had to be made be swimming to the beach and exiting through the coral rubble. Added to that, my wife's BCD started to auto inflate, so with the help of one of the DMs we got it cleaned out. We did a giant stride off the end of the pier (I hit the bottom pretty hard) and when my wife jumped in her primary had a major free flow and lost 700# from the tank. Then when we defended she had a major mask leak that required surfacing to make adjustments. Finally we got the dive in - lots of the usual suspects.
Getting out of the water was a challenge. Since we did not know that we could not exit via ladder at the OEW pier, my wife brought her full foot fins and no booties. Needless to say, exiting through the rubble with a tank on was impossible in bare feet. With this situation, the shore dive to see the coral spawn was aborted.
