We are taking our son and his friend on Carnival Legand for 7 days. We want to do two tanks in Mahogany Bay.

Should we book an excursion ($99) per person for two tanks through Carnival, or find someone else shore side?

$99 per person seems reasonable.

I'll also be on that ship and diving Mahogany Bay (6/28, yes?). Not being familiar with cruise ships or Roatan diving I'd say $100 for the canned excursion keeps it neat and simple, although maybe not the most exciting dive ("...so you'll be diving a site good for the lowest cert'd diver on the bus.")

As is the case on any island, and with any day-dive op if you're a "first-day of diving" visitor.

I'm with you, F106A, stay with the program. You're really not going to get to see anything more or less than anyone else.

Sorry I missed your post. I was the bald guy on the bigger boat with the camera. My wife had a camera as well.

All in all it was a good experience. The reefs are alive and doing well. The vis was not great, but I suspect that is from the rain they got earlier. AKR was a nice outfit. It did not look like much other than the resort though. I heard Bananarama was in a better location with some shops and restaurants, and a beach.

I wouldn't go on a cruise again, but I would spend a week in Roatan!
