I am looking to purchase a strobe from DiverVision, and was unsure of any potential import duties. For those of you out there who have purchased from DiverVision, have you had to pay any import duty on your purchase, and if it was for a strobe, do you know the rate.

Thanks from one who has gotten in up to waist deep on the journey of spending lots of money on the seemingly bottomless money abyss of underwater photography.

Import duties are controlled by your local government - not the shop you're buying from.

Here in Australia we pay an import duty and a goods and services tax on items imported over the value of $AUD1000 - that meant I was able to purchase an Inon D2000 and tray and arm package from DiverVision and not pay any fees to get it into the country. You really need to check with your local customs to see what applies to you.

I have purchased INON Lenses, a D-2000 strobe and INON LE-550W led lights (GREAT LIGHT!) from Divervision (in Taiwan) and UWdigitalcamera (In Japan) shipped here to the USA and not had to pay any duty on any of the orders.

True, of course, in theory but not always in practice. Here in Sweden we almost always have to pay 6% duty plus 25% VAT on items purchased from USA, plus a special administrative fee of approximately 15 US$ which, for some reason that our Post Office cannot explain, is only levied on items from USA, whereas I have never had to pay duty and tax on items from China, Hong Kong or Taiwan (Divervision).
