Don't stress out... remember, they want you to pass. For PADI, study the knowledge reviews, the quick quizes, and know how to use the RDP (recreational dive planner)forwards and backwards. You will need to be able to calculate NDLs (non-descompression limits), for both single, multiple, and triple dives. You will also need to be able to calculate pressure groups and minimum surface intervals after two or three dives. Remeber to draw dive profiles to help you keep everything straight.

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been a while... been a tad busy with shool starting. Anyways, I passed my written and pool test! I'll be doign the actual opne water test Next saturday. Now all I have to do is get used to that wwetsuit @_@

That is my biggest fear too! The w-w-w-wetsuit. I am in Maine (brrrr) and am beginning my NAUI certification classes next week. I am excited but nervous about being cold.

Chrissie,
If you've bought your wetsuit and basic gear you might want to go out snorkeling. That will let you get used to the suit and give you some idea how it will warm up. You won't have the effects of suit squeeze from depth but it's a start. You'll experince whatever (cool) seepage you get and then the warm-up.

We haven't taken up SCUBA yet but have been snorkeling here in Maine 70 times since Early June, probably 70% salt water. Southern Maine seawater right now is in the low 60s and won't roll off till late in the month, and then its a slow process.

My wife and I are comfortable in 5MM suits with hooded vests underneath. We were fine for 12 dives up near Acadia NP 2 weeks ago as well. Water there was almost 10 degrees cooler.

Good luck with your class. Maybe next year for us.

Pete

I just took mine about 3-4 weeks ago... IF you're PADI, then the easiest thing is to go through each chapter and read the questions and the chapter summary sidebars. That has the basis for each chapter in a nutshell...most of it's just common sense stuff..take your time think (breath in..breath out)(Don't hold your breath!) don't get tripped up by the curve balls...if more than one answer fits, look for the "all of the above" answer.

THEN go over your dive tables until they are COLD!

It worked for me..I got 100% (now I get to do my dives the weekend of the 25th!) (NOW I'm nervous! hahaha!)

Good luck you'll pass with flying colors!
