im not really a dir diver, think its a bit thick to be told what to do but i do adopt two things, redundancy and the long hose, yet, only a 6 foot one as aways in open water, are there any other people like me who are sort of taking on the main principil of dir diving and think that i should take on any other practices, please, dont say all of them

Junior - until you take a DIR-F course, it's awfully presumptuous to sit there at the ripe old age of 15 and say it's "a bit thick to be told what to do." Was that you who was on here earlier and said 100% oxygen in your tanks was "cool?"

I dont see DIR diving as mainly gear configuration what i see is good procedures buddy, planning, awareness ect... all made simple and safe

Boogie,

He's a teen. Therefore he knows everything and is more than happy to tell us so. He will also live forever so he will do as he pleases.

You might have some luck with this website: http://www.dis-uk.org/

i wasn't saying that 100% was cool as in good, i meant cool as in wierd cos i didn't think that that was normal, ive put that on the thread, and when i said i didn't think it was clever to be told what to BUY, not do, as some gear wont fit certain people, not neccessairly because of size like L, XL and so on, i mean, any size of Dacor BCD doesn't go well with me, i just don;t like the style and i don't think (though i realise that there isn't much deifferenct) that i personally dive as well with them, i have dived the, before but have dived them before i got my own gear, i don't like them and i don;t fit with them, like some people may not fit with halcyon and so on, now does anyone have any EQUIPMENT tips as i tend to actually be complimented (not sure whether out of kindness or otherwise) on good diving techniques normally, because when ive read all my books and waiting to get more, i just read my diving manuals again, and sice this happens normally at least twice a month i am normally kept up to date ad i go diving at least once every 3 weeks (normally every week in a pool, three in open water) so please dont criticise me on anything like that when you have never seen me dive like telling me that dir is mainly on buddy techniques and dive planning i was wondering about equipment, and trying not to sound too arrogant, can somebody please give me some good tips of equipment configuration

Lots of people take DIR principles and adopt them without going fully into DIR. I'm very interested in the basics and am taking DIR-F to learn more. Haven't decided if I'll go fully into it yet, but have yet to see a single drawback.

Keep researching, never close your eyes. Even if you disagree with someone, here out what they have to say, you never know, maybe there is still something to be learned.

junior,

You're not listening to what people are telling you. DIR is primarily about the dive planning, team oriented diving, dive fitness, and accident prevention. The gear configuration has grown out of those principles, not vice versa.

If you want someone to give you a list of gear purchases you can make so you call look all "cool and DIR" then the archives are your friend :)

OK - first point- study your English comprehension and grammar in school. Although I may not be fair - is English your first language? If its not, I apologize.

Second point - your first post said nothing about gear configuration. It was about dive practices. So by telling you that it's about team awareness and buddy techniques, that's not an insult.

Third point - your information is mistaken. A backplate and wing, whether Halcyon, Oxycheq, Dive Rite or anything else will fit anyone. They are infinitely adjustable.

Fourth point - DIR isn't about gear configuration. It's been said before and will be said again 4 million times... but like it or not, it's not about the gear configuration. You can dive Hogarthian, but that has very little to do with DIR.
