Don, unless they have finally removed all of the gravel & replaced it with sand I can't consider Playa Caletita a beach anymore, nor the other areas between it and the International Pier. My idea of a beach is nice sand that slopes out into the water, and it stays sandy bottomed until at least I am neck deep into the water. I have plenty of photos in my albums showing Playa Caletita and the areas you are talking about, so I guess it's all in the interpretation.

Hey Folks... just wanted to say thanks again for all the info!

We booked the trip from Dec 4-10. We are staying at Hotel Cozumel and diving with Emerald Dolphin Group for 3 days.

What suggestions do you have for the non diving days? We might just relax for a day at the beach/pool. But what else is there to do?

Thanks Again,
Karlo and Jill

A must-do when on Cozumel is an excursion to the east side of the island. There is very little development over there, just a few little beach clubs sprinkled along the coast. There are miles of beaches and spectacular rock formations jutting into the ocean. There is a road that goes from the center of town across the middle of the island, turns south along the coast, and then comes back a little ways inland from the southern tip of the island and back up the west side. The beach clubs all have cold beer and food (the whole fried snapper at Chen Rio is to die for), and the scenery is very different from the west side; there is often rideable surf over there and you can rent boogie boards from some of the clubs (Mescalito's, Senor Iguana's, Punta Morena, Coconuts, Chen Rio, Playa Bonita, Bob's Marley Bar, and Rasta's). Make a day of it.

 I am trying to imagine the concept of "non-diving days" while on Cozumel. I guess I'm not qualified.

That's the day you get to sleep in before finishing your packing and catching a cab to the airport. Many thanks to the Gods at Continental for scheduling flights off the island that just happen to be exactly 24 hours from the time I ascend from my second dive the day before.

(Of course I'll be cursing those same Gods in a couple of weeks when I have to wake up at 4 a.m. to catch my early flight off Bonaire %^&@&@!!!)
