Hi!

I recently lost my dive buddy. No, (unfortunately) ;) he didn't die, we just broke up. We just got certified last April and went on a few really good dive trips. I love diving and I'm afraid of losing momentum with no one to plan trips with; so I was thrilled to find this site. (I'd like to maybe make a trip in May 2005.)

How do I find out about other single divers looking to plan a trip?

Do you know the best way to find if there are any scuba clubs locally (Scottsdale, AZ)?

Thanks for being here!

Hi,

There's our club - AZScuba. We're responsible for the Arizona Scuba forum here. We're a group of over 100 divers who plan trips and local outings. Some of our group are going to Curacao this spring (I think it's sold out) and others go to San Carlos or California regularly. It's free to join our group. We have a mix of single/married members - I'm single as are about half the people who normally show up at our meetings.

We're having a monthly (social) meeting this Wednesday at the Downside Grille, SW corner of 24th/Camelback from 5:30-8:30. It's always the 2nd Wednesday of the month. I guarantee we don't take ourselves too seriously. I think one of the big topics of discussion is going to be going to the Buffett concert - at least it was on the forum recently.

You can get info about the group on the Arizona Scuba forum here but more current stuff is generally on our Yahoo Group - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/azscuba/

Other clubs in Phoenix that I know of are affiliated with either Ocean Planet in Tempe or Scuba Sciences in NW Phoenix. Ocean Planet has a get-together BBQ monthly, it should be either this Friday or next and Scuba Sciences meets monthly at Metrocenter. There's possibly a dive club at Saguaro Sports in Mesa but I don't have any details, I've just heard of their existence.

I don't know of any clubs affiliated with divestores in your area.

Contact me if you need more info, Hope to see you Wednesday night.

Welcome to the board!
Can't help ya much with AZ but there are those here that can.
Too bad or just freakin wonderful about losing your dive buddy which ever that case may be but there are a bunch of divers in the sea.....no worries...dive on!
If ever in the Republic of Texas give me a shout!

Hmmm... that statement makes me wonder how willing the single men on this board will be to dive with you. Check out singledivers.com (see link below) as well.

Hey Sologirl....I'd dive with ya. Seems that the good Dr. and I have a different take on the issue. Nothing like a little excitement on a dive!

Welcome to the board! There are a lot of single men in this sport and not as many females so you can pretty much shop around until you find the perfect buddy/mate :) While I didn't get mine from here I did meet him via scuba and we've been happily married for 2.5 years but together for 7 years, he was a little slow to commit but worth waiting for ;) I've can tell you I've met a bunch of people in my area through the Great Lakes Wrecking Crew here on the board and they've all been great so I'm expecting you will probably find the same out there. Personally I would take sjspeck up on his offer, I bet you'll have a good time. No I don't know him but I know how our group likes to make new people feel welcome and his group sounds a lot like ours.

Put your general location in your profile, it helps us guide you to whatever information you seek when you post on the board.

See you around the board!

Sologirl....yeah it's me again....how do you go to Tahiti and dive only once?
If there wasn't a medivac or a deco chamber involved I don't think I could go all the way to Tahiti and do just one dive!

Hi Steve!

Wow! Thank you so much for all the information. It sounds like exactly what I was looking for. I think I'll be able to make it this Wednesday. If not, next month for sure!

See you soon!

Hey Joe!

No no no! I went to Tahiti on a Windstar cruise and we went diving every day at a different spot. It was fantastic! We saw tons of fish and beautiful coral and got to see huge manta rays. I even went on a shark dive with black tips and lemon sharks (not as scary as I thought it would be!) Personally, I could take or leave the cruising--the diving was what made the trip!

Hey--no guts, no glory. You just gotta believe some things are worth the risk! Am I wrong?
