Well everyone, Sunday I was certified with my OW certification from PADI. I am pumped. I had a blast with the class and learned alot. I have completed 2 of my advanced dives (compass nav and bouyancy), all of my knowledge reviews and I have my deep dive, a multilevel dive, and a photo dive on Saturday this weekend. I also did another OW dive that didn't count towards my advanced but I just wanted to get some more time in the water. So I should have my advanced cert this weekend. I'll update yall and tell you how it goes. One of the guys there took a great picture of me under water so I think i'm going to get it blown up and put it on my wall as memory for down the road, i'll be able to go back and say this was during my OW cert :) Anyway, just wanted to share the news. Thanks for listening to me rant.

Congratulations on the new cert Mike, welcome to your new lifestyle :)

Maria
P.S. So, are you getting all the info you needed from us?

Maria, thankyou very much. Yes, Scuba board has provided me with a wealth of information, so much that the other individuals in my class were like so how long have you been diving and blah blah and I was like I just do my research :) I referred a few people to the board from my class. I used a variety of regs in my OW, lots of sherwood, some dacor and others. They breathed easy but they breathed horrible when the diaphragm was phasing up. I ended up purchasing a Mares Mr22 Abyss reg from my local LDS here in Humble for a good price. I also purchased a Proton backup. My LDS has been very good despite my initial opinion. I am dealing with a gentleman there now who is very helpful and who matches any price a particular online dealer has whom I shall not mention. Pretty much I get online prices with the service of my LDS so I can't ask for much more. We will have to meet up and go diving sometime, Maria, I would like to meet you. Just in case you were going up to Huntsville anytime soon I just wanted to say that the Lagoon was very low vis, lots of particulate in the water...not sure why as there was no rain or anything but it made my OW interesting learning in 5ft vis :) Later everone.

First off congratulations on your certification and welcome to the board. There is alot of really good people and information on here. Now go have some fun and get wet.

Well I went back and made sure I greeted you before. I did! I also asked you to let us know when you got certified, you did! Congratulations. This thread may get merged with your original. I see you've been using the board to get equipment information as you've now got over 50 posts. See, we told you you'd love it here!

Congrats on your cert, and thanks for sharing.

Hey Mike.... glad you found what appears to be a really nice LDS with very good costumer service. Congrats on the equipment as well...Yeah!!!!!!!

No kidding, the BL sometimes has no viz - but it does make for very interesting learning situations, especially compass work. It also depends on which of the two lagoons you use.

Drop me a line, I'll dive with you anytime and would be great to meet a fellow SB :)

safe diving,
Maria

Thanks for keeping us updated on your progress. I'm glad that the board has turned out to be such a great resource for you.

Congratulations! :cheering:

Have you Introduced here before? Additional discussions would work better on New To Scuba. See ya' over there? :bandit_2:

Yes, I've introduced before. From now on I'll take it to New to Scuba. Yes the board has been a great resource. I've used the search feautre more than I can count and I have also obtained many great equipment tips. My LDS is wonderful. Thanks for the support all of you have given me thus far and I look forward to participating in this wonderful sport and hopefully meeting some of you all in the future. I'll pm you sometime Maria and we'll go diving :) Bye yall.
