While I do not condone beers before diving, it is not hard to make an 80 cu ft tank stretch to 90+ mins. You might get a headache from doing so, but it is not difficult, as long as you are also a fairly accomplished freediver, as well as scuba.

well he had a starting pressure of 3000 psi ending with 400 psi after 92 min at an average depth of 25 meters??? make the numbers and tell me if it's not impressive, and I do believe it since I saw him

Why? There are plenty of divers that have been diving for years and years and years that don't dive DIR. There are plenty of freakin' awesome divers that don't dive DIR.

but again, as a DIR oriented diver I learned a lot of techniques, skills, proper trim, propulsion and equipment configuration that leads to a more comfortable dive that points to a much better gas consumption, if someone that has nothing like that reach that consumption maybe means there are other ways (talking only about SAC) than we had been taught, and I wanted to listen about the experts...

Did you talk to him about this dive? Still I guess we do not know the average depth. If for sake of augment we stay that average depth was 50 fsw then a SAC of 0.26 cu ft/min would be required to come back with zero gas. 0.26 cu ft/min is less than half of what most people I know plan for, but perhaps possible with no exertion. But if something happens your SAC goes up and you blow your 20 or so minutes of mandatory deco and very likely get bent. It does seem unlikely that unplanned dives like this can be done without running out of gas or getting bent.

Lots of old guys that are out there that are relaxed.

Exactly. People who dive a lot and have been diving a long time can use very little gas on a dive. I've seen women DMs do 2 dives on a 2 dive boat trip with one AL80 and I dive with "old guys" who can easily outlast some of the most fit people on the boat.

We don't do the beer thing though... until later, after the dive.

Didn't he say he watched him till the end of his own dive and he was at 140 ft for 7 min and started safety deco stops? Maybe it was just a guesstimation but it's still impressive.
