The Suunto Mosquito provides different operating modes for different types of diving.

In Air mode it is an advanced dive computer with full Decompression capability. In addition to complete dive functions the Mosquito provides extensive memory functions, profile recording and dive planning functionality. The logbook can keep up to 36h of diving, and the lifetime dive history is also recorded. The Mosquito uses the Suunto Reduced Gradient Bubble Model (RGBM for Decompression calculations. The model can be adjusted using personal/altitude settings

leisurepro is the store, and air z is the way to go, maybe $100 more than you want to spend. but it a hoseless air intergrated computer

Buy the suunto vytec without the transmiter use it for awhile. Then get the transmiter.

Which is what I just got today, for $320. Plan to use it as a backup this Saturday. I like the easy to read display.

I'm in the market for a PDC and I am impressed with Oceanic and Suunto. I've heard some really good comments regarding Suunto, but does anyone have an opinion about the Oceanic VT Pro? How about the new Atom?

I have an Oceanic VEO 200 with 6 dives on it so far and I like it. No problems so far.

EricJ:
My Aeris Pro (no longer made) doesn't give me my average depth; it only gives the maximum depth of the dive. Which computers display average depth?
Suunto Vyper/Cobra do. I would assume that the Gekko & Mosquito do as well.

If you were to buy a computer today for under $450, what would you choose??? I just want some input on why and any other info you would like to pass on. Thanks.

I just went through the same decision and chose the Suunto Stinger. I wanted something small that I could keep on my wrist during diving expediation (so as not to have it stolen). The fact that it is good looking enough to double as a watch is a nice plus.

I wanted a computer that used the newer and much more efficient RGBM. It is a faser more efficient dive model. Suunto uses this model. Next I wanted a computer that would allow me to download info onto my computer and the Suunto has a great program called the Suunto Dive Manager.

The only other wrist watch I was considering was the Mares Nemo http://nemo.mares.com
It is a great looking full featured dive computer (like the Suunto) but I did not like the fact that they do not have any repair centers in Canada and found that the Suunto had a bigger following and was a proven technology (it has been in the market longer).

I bought my watch from http://www.divetank.net
They have great prices and service.

Good luck :crafty:
