...or BP/W...What are good brands/models to look for?

Let's just say for the sake of argument/comparison. I want a jacket style BC...what's good what's not?

(I know...none, BP/W is the only way to go)

But for the sake of argument......

Look for comfort and fit when inflated and lack of extra unneeded material. Also, quality of construction and parts. Before my bp/wings, I used the Oceanic Probe QLR. I liked it as a jacket bc.

I currently have a Seaquest Pro QD+, which is quite nice other than being a little bulky in the pockets. Its got these big gel pads, but underwater you can't feel the weight anyway, so who cares?

This BC might become available in the next few months too.....:eyebrow: :eyebrow:

Scubapro Nighthawk are good jacket type BCs.

Actually a Scubapro Knighthawk is a back inflate BC. I dive one and like it very much. I second the Scuba Pro Glide Plus. I've dove a few dives in one and think they are pretty nice.

Aeires Atmos XT. It is pretty much a back inlate, but has air pouches down low that come around to the front. Makes floating on the surface much more comfortable.

1st bc was a seaquest pro qd
now have a seaquest fusion, like a cross between a back inflate and a jacket.

Back inflate is not for everyone. Really, it isn't. But do make a couple dives in one before rejecting it out of hand.

I still own my jacket BC and use it in the pool so the chlorine won't attack my "diving" BCs. It's not bad.

Seaquest ProQD and S-111 are both very popular jacket BCs.

Happy diving,
