Another possibility is Tulamben on the NE coast of Bali. There are three really good shore dives here, and for a little variety, you can get a short boat ride down to Seraya, where the dives are also reputed to be very good.
The entry and exits on two of those dives - the Liberty Wreck and Coral Gardens - are a bit of a hassle due to the boulders that line the beach and extend maybe 5+ meters into the water (it's not a sandy beach).
There are several resorts in Tulamben. I've twice stayed at Tauch Terminal and would recommend it. Mimpi is also pretty nice. Both of these are oceanfront. A short hop away from the beach, across the road, is Tulamben Wreck Divers, run by Tony Medcraft, an Aussie Expat. His prices are quite reasonable compared to the oceanfront resorts.
August/September is prime Mola-Mola (Oceanic Sunfish) season in Bali, but your best chance to see them is in Nusa Penida, on the SE side of Bali. This would be a full day trip, but the experience is pretty unique if you get to see them.
