Hi - My girlfriend and I are new to diving and doing our first resort trip to Lodge Kura Hulanda in Curacao in early March. We both dove in Fajardo, Puerto Rico in shortys. She said she got a bit chilled at times, but I was fine, but we both got some fire coral rash on our hands. Any preferences for Curacao diving? I'm thinking I may stick with a 3/2 shorty, but I like the idea of additional protection on my knees and legs of a full suit. If I go full, will I need to stick with a 1 or 1.5mm suit, or a 2 or 3mm suit, seeing as I was fine in Puerto Rico in mid December in a shorty. Thanks in advance.

My wife and I dove Curacao in November. She's the one who gets cold, but needed nothing other than a lycra dive skin. I have a hard time imagining needing anything more than a 3mm there.

As for the fire coral... improve your bouyancy so you don't touch. :)

We dove Curacao last March. I took a 3mm long plus a 2mm vest plus 2mm hood and I was definitely feeling chilly. We were doing 3 - 5 long dives per day all week long and that drains a lot of body heat even in warm water. If I go back at this time of year I'll seriously consider taking my 5mm long.
