I am currently a Dive Master living in the Philippines. I have been looking all over the web for a good deal on the IDC crew pack. Our local dive shops don't offer these and sell the pieces separately. My limited budget is looking for the best deal online. I have noticed that what some LDS' call crew packs have different items than others. Since I will be returning to the US next week (for a holiday), I hope to be able to locate a good value and obtain it before returning. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Mods: I tried to find the correct place to post this thread, but none really deal with education and career advancement. The Instructor to Instructor thread is disabled. Maybe we can start a new category.

It may help to know which dive company (PADI, SSI, NAUI, etc.) you're using. I assume it's PADI since you're a Dive Master (same as Dive Con for SSI).

If that's the case, pm me with your location in the US when you drop back for a few days. I'll be in Branson, Mo. on Monday and can check w/ Table Rock's dive shops (we have SSI and PADI) to see if one of the Instructors has a IDC pack in house so I can get a price for you. I should be able to pm you w/ said info by Monday night sometime.

The crew pack is $600. You have to buy the manual to get the little hologram decal to take the test...Y'all keep that in mind when your whining about a $45 book for a cert.

Thanks for the quick replies...a Google search yields a number of prospects. The crew pack ranges from $399 to almost $500 for the same items. There are a couple others that take out a book or two or add a PADI bag but that's the range I'm seeing. A few weeks ago, I did a search and found a shop in Florida that said that they would not be undersold on the IDC crew pack. (They claimed that they buy so many that they can afford to keep the cost low - kinda like WalMart.) I can't find it now (yes, I know that I should have bookmarked it) and hope that one of you recognize it. I could have sworn he was in the Tampa/Bradenton area, but I'll be darned if I can't find it again.

For what it's worth, the IDC manuals are sold separate from the other items here in Manila. None have the holographic decal and the digital version is last years'. While I understand that I can download the new version, why go through the hassle when the current one is out there?

The hologram should be with the Instructor Candidate Workbook, and is needed in the IE. No hologram, no IE !! Make sure you get one.

Hi,

We retail the crew pack in Honduras for $350 and seperate manuals for $25 each, this is only to candidates taking the IDC with us though.
