Haiko,

When the dust settles let us know how things went.

Thanks,

Thanks for the replies guys!

Well, I want to take my time to do my IDC (I'm a DM already), so planning it in 3 months. So I guess, those 2 weeks in class and the shallows doesn't matter that much, cause I will have some time left for some fundiving. Probably take the opp. to become a MSDT. I prefer to do my IDC in English. I did my OW (Aus), AOW/Rescue (NZ) in English too. Only my DM training was in Dutch.

So what IS the right time to come to the Gulf of Thailand (presuming I'll go to Samui)?

Ofcourse I want to do some other stuff then just diving.:shocked2: I like hiking, caving and other to-do things. If I rent a moped, well the world is at my feet, right? Would like to stay close, but not on the beach. Might depend on season and availability though.

I'm not a "let's soak up some sun on the beach and get drunk" -type, but still I can drink like a Divemaster :eyebrow:.

That's a good start! :coffee:

For the Gulf it's best between March and September/October.

April and August probably being the best month for vizibility!

... cause I will have some time left for some fundiving.

There's some excellent fun-diving to be done on the West Coast. The best time is between October and May but you can dive the daytrip dive destinations all year.

If you decide to stay in Samui though make sure you get to see Sail Rock and Chumporn Pinnacle.

:D

Chaweng will sharpen those nav skills :) Actually, we did catch a 15m vis day on Chaweng last July. I kid you not!! Even got to see a huge seahorse not far from shore.
