I think I am going to try the Oceanic Omega III second stage ice diving this weekend instead of my Apex. Iheard they work well with less chance of freeze up. I'm just looking for opinions on the best ice second stage. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

My vote would be a Scubapro MK17 with a G250 or an S600 second stage. The second stages are the same internally, but the 250 has a larger case. Also, diaphragms tend to perform better than pistons in cold water.

Quote from DA Aquamaster on another thread:

Cold water testing has been done with it at high flow rates at 160' depth and it was the only reg [MK17] in the test group that did not freeze flow during the 200 minute test.

I dive high altitude cold and ice with an older Apeks 200 first and second, and an "Air Source" secondary. Never had a problem with any of them and I have them serviced every November.
