:D Well I've wanted to go ice diving for about 20 years, never was in the right place at the right time. But today everything finally came together! Dennis, an instructor from Blue Marble Divers the shop both Davey and I DM. for is an SEI ice diving instructor, and today we went to Bainbridge. Yesterday the quarry had 6" of ice, but temperatures in the 50s yesterday, and nearly 60 today, thinned it down. As it turned out it was a perfect day. My wife acted as surface handler for us, with the warm temps, she didn't need any of the warm clothes she brought. We set up the ropes, listened to dive lecture, and briefing, and hit the water. The water was cold, 38 degrees, it was ice diving after all, despite the spring like weather. It was a great day of diving, and Dennis was a great instructor.

Way to go Joe! Did mine last weekend out at SEI HQ in Muncie. What did you guys do to cut the hole? CHeck out my website for our method. Pics came out pretty good and I just got emailed a few more I'll be posting. Including my encounter with the rare ice gator.

Congrats on that one! Hate to say it, but the only ice I want to see is in my cup ;)

I totally understand, my wife feels the same way!

YRTH,

Congrats!! Glad to hear you both completed.

The diving here sucked!! Thought I was back home. Green water, 68 degrees and so much snot, visibility was about 10 feet. Found my self wishing my dry suit was here. 3mm suit just does not cut it, even with a shorty and hooded vest.

Water has been cold for the past few days and is beginning to take it's toll on the fish. Dead and dying fish littered the bottom.
