I had an interesting ice dive last Sun. on the shipwreck Kueka in Lake Charlevoix. I was down videoing the wreck when I came around the bow on the port side and saw the other diver coming around the starboard side. I thought this was great as it gives the wreck some size perspective. As the diver got closer I saw his regulator start to freeflow. He plucked it from his mouth and played with it as to try and stop the freeflow. This was not successfull and he put his pony bottle reg in his mouth. I kept the video going as he did not seem to panic. We both headed back up the bow and he started to swim back to the hole much to my relief. He must not have noticed a jug line that was hooked to the wreck and frozen in the ice above. The diver swam right around it and tangled his line around the jug line making it impossible for him to reach the hole. He still did not panic and I kept the video going. All his attempts were to no avail as he only managed to tangle himself up in his own line more and more. I could not watch anymore so I swam over and cut the jug line which freed him up enough to get back to the hole. A happy ending to a potentially dangerous situation. Plus it made for some great video.
