I was just there in Feb. This was my second stay and also my second time using Dressel. The resort is great and I found the staff helpful and friendly. The food is buffet style with a plentiful assortment. They also have two specialty restaurants, a Mexican and steak restaurant. I had no problems finding something good to eat after seven days.
It is true that the hurricane has removed most of the sand from the beach area. Water shoes are necessary if you plan on swimming in the ocean from the resort. The grounds provide a very tropical theme and show no signs of hurricane damage. The theater does have nightly shows with audience participation that we found hilarious.
As far as Dressel divers, I found them very attentive. They provide a dive schedule that is closely followed but changes if weather becomes a factor. One of the days I was there, the harbor was closed to some of the smaller boats. This affected many of the dive resorts/shops in town but did not bother Dressel. Since they have the larger boats and are really close to most dive sites, they still went out. They only bad thing I can say about Dressel are that they are expensive and require you to buy packages up front. If you purchase a package and for some reason are unable to complete all of the dives, they will not refund that amount. In addition, most of the time they set time limits on the dives; although nothing unreasonable. Most of the divers have already surfaced by then due to low air.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. By the way, I would stay there again but I think I would try a different dive op just for comparison.
