Thanks for clicking. I need your help with an assignment on how women are represented in the dive community and dive media.

It is a short, 10 question survey. It will hopefully give me some insights into the issue and help me write a well balanced article.

Take the survey here: Gender and Diving Survey

This is for one of my university courses on gender and journalism/media. To bring it back to something I know more about, I decided to look at the issue from a scuba diving perspective.

Thanks for taking the time to fill out the survey. It is a big help!

Mods: I posted here so that I could get a good variety of diver's inputs. I hope you understand.

Done.Nice survey. They were well balanced questions I thought. I would like to know the outcome of your survey just out of curiosity sake. I have been diving since 2002 and while I have never experienced sexisim in diving, it would be interesitng to know your outcome.

Good luck

I went to answer your survey (and my wife as well) but you may want to clarify the answer system for Question #5. such as 1=Strongly disagree and 5=Strongly Agree or the other way around, wasn't sure how to answer that one.

I only looked at the first three questions and could not understand them. Can you define "sexism" in the context of your study?

i think thats the one where you move the answers from top rated to bottom rated

hmmm. i have to wonder about your anser. sexisim is sexism. meaning are women treated poorly on dive excursion - trips and such. like comments about looking good in a wetsuit or a bathing suit, etc.

Question 5 was bugged. I couldn't select answers without having other answers cleared. After several attempts I gave up and didn't answer the questionnaire.

Also, I had trouble understanding what you believed the definition of "sexism" is. Judging by the questions you seem to think "sexism" is any "difference" but I'm wondering if a "difference" automatically indicates a bias. I'm not so sure of that as you appear to be.

R..

Thanks for the feedback. I've added a note on sexism, although ultimately, what sexism is depends on who you ask.

I've added a note to the ranking section as well. Hopefully this helps. Sorry for the bug, that is just the way the survey software works - nothing I can do :(

Good survey. Interested in the final outcome!

For those having issues with question 5, you can only use each number once. If you try to answer two blanks with the number 4 one will delete.
